History

My journey in the Electronics industry began in 1988 when I started working as an outside salesperson for a Manufacturers’ Representative company by the name of Varrelman Gorman and Associates, Inc. I acquired my understanding of working with manufacturers and distributors in this 5-year period, helping engineers at OEMs with their projects. I created relationships that have lasted, in many instances, for decades. As a salesperson new to the industry at that time, I managed to land some substantial business with companies such as Symbol Technologies, Loral Fairchild, Hazeltine, and Misonix, to name a few. In 1993, I incorporated as Van Steen Associates Inc. and started out on my own. One of the first manufacturers I contracted with was Allen Machine, which I represent to this day. My territory expanded into NJ and CT, allowing me to work with accounts such as Crestron Electronics, Ascom Timeplex, Datascope, Lorad, Lecroy, Revent, Adcomm, and many more. It has been a rewarding and exciting journey, and I feel blessed and grateful to work with so many quality customers and manufacturers. I look forward to a future of new relationships and projects in the Electronics Industry.
